OInsightMath:
PLAYBOOK
PLAYBOOK is one of the major print components to a mathematics curriculum called INSIGHTMATH, by Mind Education. Its purpose is to connect what young students learn in the classroom to their lived experiences via representation through characters and their stories.
I served as a senior graphic designer (learning experiences and layout), leading a small team on the creation of over 1,000 PLAYBOOK pages. I was among those who led on the look and feel of the product, and I was responsible for the implementation of the visual language we created to promote learning, retention, and engagement. We utilized the neuroscience of learning, combined with the visual storytelling techniques used in comic book layout design, to craft a learning experience that excited and empowered students in their classroom journeys.
INSIGHTMATH has gone on to win the ISTE 2025 Best of Show award in their Tech and Learning category due to its seamless blend of neuroscience and play.
I designed 200+ pages for PLAYBOOK, but the role I fulfilled most on the team was as a senior editor on the project.
First, I would work with curriculum writers to better format the learning materials we received to correspond to the neuroscience we learned around engagement.
Next, I would work with designers to bring their deliverables up to our style guide standards.
Lastly, I would apply any edits necessary to improve the lesson clarity, storytelling, and style guide adherence. This included prepping files for print.
I’ve included a section in this portfolio below, showcasing some of the befores-and-afters that highlight the work I did as editor.
