Courtney’s Personal Work
This is work I’ve done under the CourtneyMonster brand. This is where I explore and experiment with new styles, tools, and techniques.
This gallery is divided by flavor: Character Explorations, Compositions, and Sketches & Inks.
Character Explorations
I love a good character exploration, don’t you? Every character depicted here comes from a project, hobby, or fandom I once-upon-a-time engaged in. You’ll see my style fluctuate a lot in this section, even across iterations of the same character! This is intentional, as I play with shape language and proportion to convey mood and character growth. (And sometimes, it’s just me trying something new!)
This is Amelie! She is the main character to a personal project of mine.
Colorful illustration of a young wizard with green hair, wearing a large blue hat, brown pants, boots, and a pink shirt, holding an open book, with a blue cape and various magical accessories.
A piece inspired by my favorite episode of "Welcome to Nightvale."
A cartoon boy with blond and dark hair, wearing a yellow shirt and blue pants, sitting on the floor, holding a book and a pen, looking thoughtful.
A character exploration for a children's media project.
My first TTRPG character, Lottie Dokes!
Compositions
A majority of my compositions originated as gifts. I love trying to capture a story moment or relationship through a completed piece; the way one’s eye flows across each element in an artwork can drastically alter the tale being conveyed.
Two chibi style characters sitting back-to-back, reading books, smiling, with one in a purple hoodie and the other in a blue jacket, against a plain white background.
Two animated characters hugging, with one holding a small steam-punk styled robot. The character on the left has orange hair, goggles on their head, and is winking, while the character on the right has light blue hair and purple eyes.
Five chibi characters in a westernized anime style.
Four animated characters flying in the sky, with a blue background and clouds. One character is holding a small robot, another has goggles on her head, a third with white hair in a red suit, and a fourth with a bald head and a green jacket.
An alt cover to a colleague's side project.
The side of a mini arcade machine decal I designed.
Just Cute Things
Emojis, character stickers, and other super cute doodles. What’s not to love?
Sketches & Inks
Who dictates when a piece is finished? What rule states something must be tightened, painted, and polished for it to be done?
